Day 1 – Halifax, Nova Scotia
Welcome to Canada’s Atlantic Coast and the Canadian Maritimes, the enchanting land of Anne of Green Gables. Your journey includes visits to all three provinces of the Canadian Maritimes: Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.

    Day 2 – Peggy’s Cove, Citadel Hill
After breakfast, visit the picturesque fishing village and artists’ retreat of Peggy’s Cove. Then, enjoy a sightseeing drive of Halifax, including a visit to Citadel Hill. Your afternoon is at leisure in Halifax to explore the many attractions within walking distance of your waterfront hotel. Enjoy dinner.

Day 3 – New Brunswick, Bay of Fundy
Travel north this morning to New Brunswick, Canada’s picture province. Enjoy a visit to the province’s most famous geological feature and most popular tourist attraction, the Flowerpot Rocks at Hopewell Cape. Observe the gradual rise or fall of the Bay of Fundy tides, an average change of 6 to 8 feet per hour. The Fundy Tides rise and fall up to 50 feet and are the highest on earth. Twice each day one-hundred-billion tons of water flow into the Bay of Fundy. This creates the phenomenal Fundy Tides, which overpower the rivers flowing into the Bay of Fundy and reverse their direction two times a day. This daily rise and fall of the tides equals the 24-hour flow of all of the rivers in the world. Then, continue over the Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island, Canada’s smallest province. Arrive at your country inn for a relaxing two night stay.

Day 4 – Prince Edward Island
This morning, drive along the seashore of Prince Edward Island Park. Watch for red fox and great blue heron. Visit Anne of Green Gables House in Cavendish. Stroll through settings described in the literary classic such as Lover’s Lane and Haunted Woods. Mark Twain called the novel “the sweetest creation of childlife yet written.” Free time in Charlottetown. Tonight, enjoy a traditional lobster supper. Maritime lobsters are world renowned for their great taste.

Day 5 – Cape Breton Island
Enjoy a morning ferry ride back to Nova Scotia. Travel north over the causeway to Cape Breton Island. Alexander Graham Bell once remarked, “I have traveled around the globe... and for simple beauty, Cape Breton outrivals them all.” Bell made his home here. Visit the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, dedicated to the inventor of the telephone. Relive Bell’s first words over the telephone, “Mr.Watson - come here - I want to see you.” Arrive at your hotel in the resort town of Baddeck for an enjoyable two night stay. Enjoy dinner.

Day 6 – Cabot Trail, Whale Watching
Your entire day is devoted to exploring the attractions of the Cabot Trail. Named for explorer John Cabot, the Cabot Trail is one of the most beautiful drives in the world. Drive along stunning mountain and coastal scenery. Follow the Trail to the French-speaking village of Chéticamp. Ascend into Cape Breton Highlands Park, one of Canada’s spectacular wilderness areas. Enjoy, a whale watching expedition cruise (weather permitting). These nutrient rich waters are the seasonal home to many species of whales. Look for fin, minke, and pilot whales. You may see dolphins, porpoises, cormorants, bald eagles and other wildlife. Return to your Cape Breton hotel.

Day 7 – Fortress of Louisbourg
Enjoy a leisurely visit to the impressive Fortress of Louisbourg, the crown jewel of the Canadian Park Service. Journey back in time as you stroll through this 18th century fortress. Travel south on Cape Breton Island to your hotel. Enjoy a farewell dinner.
