Travel along Lake Okanagan to the resort city of Kelowna for a winery tour before heading to Vernon and Yoho National Park, one of Canada’s most popular recreational areas. Take the Trans-Canada Highway and enter Alberta and Banff, Canada’s first national park and one of Canada’s favorite resorts. In Banff, you have time to hike, go boating, relax, or go horseback riding. Take an optional helicopter ride over the Canadian Rockies. Travel north on Icefields Parkway and savor stunning views of alpine meadows, waterfalls, and glacier masses. Next: a highlight of your vacation—take a thrilling ride aboard an Ice Explorer on the Columbia Icefield, the largest expanse of ice in the Canadian Rockies. Continue on to Jasper National Park, the largest national park in Canada.

Another highlight of your vacation is next—enjoy the Canadian Rockies on the spectacular 2-day, all-daylight train journey on the new Rocky Mountaineer Fraser Discovery Route from Jasper National Park to the charming rural town of Quesnel and then to Whistler. Day 1:
VANCOUVER. Welcome to Vancouver. Enjoy time at leisure to relax or to do some independent sightseeing. Your Tour Director is on hand this evening to answer any questions.

Day 2:
VANCOUVER. This morning, head out for sightseeing that includes STANLEY PARK, Chinatown, and quaint Gastown, as well as the harbor and beaches. In the afternoon, shoppers and browsers can take a water taxi to lively Granville Island with its outdoor markets, street musicians, entertainers, and waterfront cafés. Alternately, visit historic Gastown with its steam-powered clock, antique shops, art galleries, and street vendors.

Day 3:
VANCOUVER–MINTER GARDENS–KELOWNA–VERNON. Nestled against 7,000-foot-high Mount Cheam in beautiful “Super Natural” British Columbia is one of the most spectacular show gardens in the world! MINTER GARDENS has 11 themed gardens designed to dazzle the senses with massive displays of artistic floral designs. Travel over Pennask Pass, British Columbia’s second-highest highway pass, to the resort city of Kelowna, attractively set on the shores of Okanagan Lake and surrounded by orchards and vineyards. Sample local wines on the included WINERY TOUR this afternoon. Tonight, join in the fun and experience dinner and Western entertainment at the O’Keefe Historical Ranch, once the largest cattle ranch in British Columbia and today designated a BC Heritage Site and popular museum.

Day 4:
VERNON–REVELSTOKE–GOLDEN. Continue east along the Shuswap Lake area with a stop at Craigellachie, site of the final rail spike, before arriving in Revelstoke. Upon arrival, visit the REVELSTOKE RAILWAY MUSEUM. Discover Canada’s history and railway heritage in one of Canada’s premiere railway museums! The museum tells the dramatic story of the railway’s construction and the people who made it reality. This evening, join your traveling companions for an optional gondola ride to the top of Kicking Horse Mountain for dinner and a visit to the Grizzly Bear Refuge.

Day 5:
GOLDEN–YOHO NATIONAL PARK–LAKE LOUISE–BANFF. This morning, enter the spectacular beauty of YOHO NATIONAL PARK, one of Canada’s most popular recreational areas and site of pre-Cambrian fossil finds. Follow Kicking Horse River over the highest pass on the entire coast-to-coast Trans-Canada Highway as we enter the province of Alberta and Banff, Canada’s first national park. Next, breathtaking beauty as we travel to famous Lake Louise. Its cold waters are a perfect natural mirror reflecting the surrounding mountains and glaciers. Spend the next two nights in Banff.

Day 6:
BANFF. Banff is one of Canada’s favorite resorts, with summer activities including hiking, boating, horseback riding, and fishing. This evening, consider an optional excursion to Oh, Canada Eh? which includes a 5-course dinner and musical entertainment.

Day 7:
BANFF–COLUMBIA ICEFIELD–JASPER. Travel to Jasper via spectacular Icefields Parkway. Sightseeing stops along the way include Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, and Athabasca Falls. A highlight on today’s agenda is a stop at the COLUMBIA ICEFIELD to experience the Ice Explorer, an all-terrain vehicle that travels upon ice that is 1,200 feet (365 meters) thick.

Day 8:
JASPER–ROCKY MOUNTAINEER FRASER DISCOVERY ROUTE–QUESNEL. Begin a spectacular 2-day, all-daylight journey on the new ROCKY MOUNTAINEER FRASER DISCOVERY ROUTE through countryside made historic by British Columbia’s early gold rush. Travel on board the Rocky Mountaineer from the mountain resort of Jasper in the Canadian Rockies to the charming rural town of Quesnel, gateway to the North Cariboo. Pass through the Rocky Mountain Trench—with the steep Rocky and Cariboo Mountains on either side—and onto the rolling hills and vast forests of British Columbia’s northern interior, home to abundant wildlife. Highlights include Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Yellowhead Pass, and Moose Lake. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer passes through the town of Prince George and follows the Fraser River into Quesnel, your overnight destination. (B,L)

Day 9:
QUESNEL–ROCKY MOUNTAINEER FRASER DISCOVERY ROUTE–WHISTLER. Your journey continues south today to the 4-season resort of Whistler. Enjoy breathtaking scenery, from the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon and the rolling hills and vast ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau to the river canyons and lush farmland of the Pemberton Valley. Highlights include sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon and Deep Creek Bridge, one of the highest railway bridges in the world, as well as the shorelines of Anderson Lake and glacial-fed Seton Lake. Your rail journey ends today in the resort town of Whistler Village, host of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games alpine events. Overnight in Whistler. (B,L)

Day 10:
WHISTLER–WHISTLER MOUNTAINEER–VANCOUVER. This afternoon, travel aboard the WHISTLER MOUNTAINEER from the alpine village of Whistler to the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver. Transfer from Whistler Village to embark on your rail journey through the stunning scenery of this “Sea-to-Sky” region. Highlights of the trip include Cheakamus Canyon, the dome peak of Mount Garibaldi, Shannon Falls, and the breathtaking views of Howe Sound and the Coast Mountains. Upon arrival at the North Vancouver train station you will be transferred to your overnight accommodation in downtown Vancouver. A light meal is served on board.

Day 11:
VANCOUVER–VICTORIA. This morning, set sail across the Strait of Georgia through the spectacular Gulf Islands, an area known for its Mediterranean-like climate. Afternoon sightseeing in Victoria includes world-famous BUTCHART GARDENS, Bastion Square, and Thunderbird Park with its unusual collection of totem poles. Tonight, join us for our evening optional excursion that includes a harbor cruise followed by a dinner at one of Victoria’s waterfront restaurants.

Day 12:
VICTORIA–VANCOUVER. Before catching the afternoon ferry back to Vancouver, discover some of the remaining attractions this splendid city has to offer, including the Royal British Columbia Museum, a whale-watching cruise on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and fine shopping along Government Street. This evening, why not enjoy our optional sunset dinner cruise on board an authentic paddlewheeler for views of Vancouver’s harbor and a one-of-a-kind dining experience? The perfect ending to your vacation!

Day 13:
VANCOUVER. The trip ends today with guests departing on individual schedules. Transfers to Vancouver International Airport are included.
